Spotlight Series: Xavier Casalta
The Spotlight Series features artists/designers showcasing their work.
Today’s Spotlight features Xavier Casalta from southern France, who specializes in hand lettering and illustration. With the stippling technique he creates stunning work; some taking up to hundreds of hours of inking.
In December 2013, the AIGA chapter at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point (UWSP) invited Xavier to their nowHere Design Conference as a presenter, where he held a hand lettering workshop. He prepared the famous pangram “The Quick Brown Fox Jumps Over The Lazy Dog” in various ways along with other work.
You can find his pangram work featured in the Communication Arts 2015 Typography Annual.
Patience & Discipline, his latest work; a project collaboration with Rémy Boiré, truly describes the process of using thousands upon thousands of dots to create beautiful works of art. As the title of this piece states, it takes patience and discipline to truly be the best at what you do. Let’s live this year with this in mind in all we do.
